Arizona Bill 1070 Print Exchange
I am looking for 16 artists to participate in an Arizona Bill 1070 print exchange with me.
There are many different points of view on immigration. Argument on illegal immigration and how it is encouraged, discouraged and enforced within the United States have been reignited with signing of Arizona Bill 1070 into law in April of 2010.
I would like for artist to explore the new Arizona immigration law, its implications, reasons and future affects on the state of Arizona as well as its immigrant populations both legal and illegal.
I am looking to bring together 17 unique artistic voices that can provide their own visual perspective on this interesting and relevant issue.

Information about Arizona State Bill 1070:
Arizona Senate Bill 1070 calls for Arizona to enforce federal immigration laws, stating that:
- The provision of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by personas unlawfully present in the United States.

- Where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made to determine the immigration status of the person.

- A law enforcement officer, without a warrant, may arrest a person in the officer has probable cause to believe that the person has committed any public offence that makes the person removable from the United States.

Include 1 page artist statement and biography
Participant fee: $40 to cover portfolio box, colophon, shipping and publicity.

Calendar
September 30, 2010: Commitment form, fee and short artist bio are due
January 15, 2011: Prints and one page artist statement and bio are due

Organizer
Rossitza Todorova legally immigrated to the United States from Bulgaria with her family in 1991, and became a US Citizen in 2003. Rossitza Todorova is relocating to Arizona this fall to begin her MFA in Drawing at Arizona State University.
